When I originally founded this brand in 2007, it was just an idea for a mobile make up artistry business. I knew I wanted to positively impact women’s lives and to make them feel beautiful. I was sitting in a construction company classroom, attending annual OSHA 10-hour safety training at my first employer. I was 20 years old at the time, at the outset of my journey in personal development and learning about the professional businesswoman I’ve grown to become today.

I originally created the brand & service to cater to my fabulous clientele & I did just that. I hired an interim team of fabulous women make-up artists to cater to my target market. While I enjoyed these and many additional facets of my business creation, once I graduated with my master’s and earned my PMP® certification, I knew I wanted to give more, in terms of additional professional services, to my client base.

Amid these changes, unfortunately, my original website (www.AVAModern.com) is now being sold on the open market for +$19K. When I learned of this, I consulted with fellow KC entrepreneurs and decided to add the differentiator of “KC” at the end of my brand name. To me, this indicates the geographic location the brand was born in, right here in the heart of America, my hometown, Kansas City.

When I started this project, I wanted a unique name, and I simply adore the old Latin language, so AVA is an acronym for Adamo Venuesta Artistry. In the Latin language, Adamo means “to fall in love with, to find pleasure in, to conceive a desire for” and Venuesta means “grace, beauty, charm or loveliness” and I added Modern to the end as this represents the glowing and modern style of make up my fabulous clients sought & I delivered.
